To work out how much to charge for Google Business Profile, add up the hours for setup and monthly management. Then multiply by your hourly cost and add tools, taxes and margin. The same math sets how much to charge for local SEO. After all, the profile is free, and Google requires agencies to tell clients so in writing.
In short
- Google Business Profile costs nothing, so the agency charges for the work and must disclose its fee to the client in writing.
- We found no Brazilian survey with a stated sample on this price. So the price comes from hours, costs and margin.
- The package covers the profile, reviews, posts and reporting, but the client owns the profile at all times.
- Google says the profile helps businesses appear in AI answers, which enter the package as measurement.
How much to charge to set up a Google Business Profile?
Charge for setup as a fixed project: list the tasks, estimate the hours and multiply by your team’s hourly cost. Then add tools, taxes and margin. So how much to charge for Google Business Profile setup depends on the profile’s state, because claiming, verifying and fixing old data takes longer.
First of all, one Google rule applies. Under the Business Profile third-party policies, agencies may charge a management fee. However, before they manage the profile, they must tell clients in writing that Business Profile is provided at no extra cost. The fee must also appear on invoices.
For setup, the policy recommends another practice: the agency sets itself as the profile’s manager, and the business owner as owner. If the client already has a profile, the agency asks to be invited as a manager, not as an owner. In addition, claiming a profile requires the owner’s express consent, in writing or through a positive action.
| Setup task | Hours (example) | Cost at R$ 80/h |
|---|---|---|
| Access, claiming and verification | 2 | R$ 160 |
| Category, services, hours and attributes | 3 | R$ 240 |
| Photos and description | 2 | R$ 160 |
| Name, address and phone on the site and directories | 2 | R$ 160 |
| Review link and request script | 1 | R$ 80 |
| Total | 10 | R$ 800 |
The table is our own example, with a hypothetical hourly cost, not a market price. Therefore, track the real hours with your first clients and adjust the math.

Is there a survey on Google Business Profile pricing in Brazil?
We found no Brazilian survey with a stated sample on how much to charge for Google Business Profile or local SEO. The Portuguese-language pages that publish prices come from agencies, consultants and vendors, but none explains where the numbers come from. That is why this guide adopts no price range and shows the cost-based math instead.
The most cited reference with a sample is international. Ahrefs, which sells SEO tools, polled 439 SEO service providers from several countries. In the page summary, $1,557 per month appears as the average cost of local SEO. In the body, however, that figure is the average of providers who serve the local market, not the price of a local SEO service.
The average has another limit, because Ahrefs calculated it assuming each provider charges the top of its price tier. The page also doesn’t say when the data was collected. According to the survey itself, providers in India and Central and South America charge the least, although some regions have little data. In other words, the number doesn’t tell you how much to charge for local SEO in Brazil.
How much to charge for monthly Google Business Profile management?
Charge for monthly Google Business Profile management by the hours of the recurring tasks: posts, review replies, photos, data checks and reporting. Then add tools, taxes and margin. This way, how much to charge for Google Business Profile management depends on review volume and on the client’s number of locations.
| Monthly task | Hours (example) | Cost at R$ 80/h |
|---|---|---|
| 4 posts with photos | 2 | R$ 160 |
| Review replies | 2 | R$ 160 |
| Photos and data checks | 1 | R$ 80 |
| Edits suggested by Google | 1 | R$ 80 |
| Report and meeting | 3 | R$ 240 |
| Total | 9 | R$ 720 |
Here too, however, the numbers are hypothetical. After the total come the lines that don’t depend on hours: tracking tools, the tax of the company’s regime and the agency’s margin. Finally, set the annual adjustment and how many locations the price covers, since how much to charge for local SEO grows with each location.
The suggested edits line exists because of a rule. According to the third-party policy, automatically discarding Google’s suggested updates without consulting the client violates the terms. That is why the agency must check with the client that the data is still correct.
For a local client’s blog, the same hours-per-deliverable logic is in the guide on how much to charge for content writing.
What goes into a Google Business Profile and local SEO package?
The Google Business Profile package has five lines: profile, reviews, posts, website and reporting. Each one needs countable deliverables in the contract, such as posts published and reviews answered. So the client knows what they pay for when the agency sets how much to charge for local SEO, not just for the profile.
- Profile: category, services, hours, attributes, photos and data checks.
- Reviews: a link or QR code to request reviews and replies to all of them, with client approval.
- Posts: updates, offers and events, with a photo and an action button.
- Website: a location page with the same data as the profile.
- Reporting: profile metrics, site searches and presence in AI answers.
In its help page on owners and managers, Google says a manager can edit info, respond to reviews and manage posts. But a manager can’t add or remove users or remove the profile. In other words, manager access covers all Google Business Profile management in the package without taking control away from the client.
For posts, the Business Profile posts help page lists three types: updates, offers and events. Also, posts older than 6 months are archived unless a date range is set. That is why the number of posts per month goes into how much to charge for Google Business Profile work.
What does Google forbid selling in the package?
Google forbids incentivized or selective reviews. Under the prohibited and restricted content policy, a business can’t offer payment, discounts or free items in exchange for reviews. It also can’t ask only happy customers for positive reviews, or discourage negative ones.
Likewise, the guidelines ask for the business’s real-world name on the profile and forbid adding keywords or other unnecessary information to it. The penalty can be profile suspension. Therefore, an “optimized name” and a “review package” stay out of the proposal.
To reply to reviews on the client’s behalf, the agency also needs explicit approval. According to the third-party policy, verbal consent isn’t enough.
How to include AI visibility in a local SEO package?
Include AI as a measurement line, not as a promise. Google says Business Profile helps businesses appear in AI answers, but it doesn’t explain how AI Mode picks businesses. So the package checks every month whether the client shows up when someone asks for a recommendation in the area.
The Google guide to generative AI features says AI answers can include information about local businesses. According to the guide, Business Profiles help services appear in those answers and in other Search results.
Even so, the local pack and AI Mode don’t always show the same businesses. Local SEO Data sells a local SEO data API. In a study by the company, 28.5% of local pack businesses did not appear in AI Mode for the same search. The study compared 1,120 searches in 13 US cities and shows correlation, not causation.
In practice, then, the AI line changes how much to charge for local SEO, because it has its own hours. It includes building prompts by city and neighborhood, running them every month and logging presence. The protocol is in the guide on how to measure brand visibility in AI. What changes in ChatGPT and Gemini recommendations is in the guide on how to get AI to recommend a local business. If the client wants full GEO, with content and third-party sources, use the math for how to price a GEO service at an agency.
How to show the client the results of Google Business Profile work?
Every month, show three blocks: what the agency delivered, what the profile generated and where the business appears in AI answers. That way, the client sees the work that justifies a monthly fee for Google Business Profile management. Also, if the report combines other platforms, Google requires the profile data to be shown separately.
According to the third-party policy, the agency must give clients accurate information about the profile. If the report includes data from other platforms, the Business Profile data must appear separately. The agency must also share its cost and performance reports, or let the client sign in to the account directly.
In the profile performance report, Google shows views, searches, directions, calls and website clicks. However, the searches metric is only updated at the start of each month. So compare month over month. The website, in turn, is measured in Search Console, with the technical base from the guide to SEO and AI.
What can’t the contract promise?
The contract can’t promise a ranking on Google or on Maps. The third-party policy forbids guaranteeing top placement and claiming the profile will appear in Search or Maps at all times. In addition, it forbids presenting a free Google product as something the client must pay for.
To charge for Google Business Profile work within the rules, include in the contract:
- countable monthly deliverables, with deadlines;
- who is the owner and who is the manager of the profile;
- the agency fee, listed separately and disclosed in writing;
- the “Working with third parties” disclosure, which Google requires from those who mainly serve small and medium businesses;
- the exit: the agency has seven business days to return exclusive control of the profile, and holding the profile hostage for payment is forbidden.
What we found when analyzing 7 pages on how much to charge for Google Business Profile
We analyzed 7 Portuguese-language pages that answer how much to charge or how much Google Business Profile or local SEO costs. Three publish prices in reais, but none cites a survey with a stated sample. The monthly prices quoted range from R$ 250 to over R$ 50,000, a 200-fold gap.
The page with the highest prices, for example, comes from an accounting software company and cites no source for them. Another quotes the prices of three professionals interviewed on video, plus an hours-based calculation as an example. On the other hand, five of the seven say the profile is free.
None of them, however, mentions Google’s third-party policies, such as the fee disclosed in writing or the client as owner. Likewise, none links AI visibility to the scope or price of the package. Finally, none says the contract can’t guarantee a ranking, and one even advertises “your site in first place on Google” (translated).
